    Nook HD does not mount

Under xfce 4.8 installed on Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit I can not get my Nook HD to mount when I plug it in and it is configured for PTP.
It works fine in the GNOME classic desktop.

manual mount with gphotofs works, so it's there.
I'd like it to mount automatically and pop up thunar when I plug it in as PTP device.

gvfs is installed, fuse daemon is running, xfce preferences are to not start GNOME services.

Does anybody have any idea why xfce behaves different from GNOME and how to fix it?

Apologies in advance, I have also posted this question in the Multimedia forum
