    TrueCombat: Close Quarter Battle (CQB) patch 0.223 no sound on Ubuntu 12.04.1 32bit

    Hi,

    I've been trying to install CQB for some time but I think I am missing something that I couldn't get the sound play inside CQB.

    I Download CQB from here

    I follow the Howto installation from here

    Now the situation is like this:
    I installed and play the W:ET with no problem using the et-sdl-sound launcher.
    CQB is the mod of W:ET. If I use the et-sdl-sound to launch W:ET and load the CQB mod, I can go to CQB menu with sound. But using the method I can't get into CQB game itself. When I start the server I goes out.

    When I use the CQB launcher, I go directly to CQB menu and launch the game with no problem. The games works perfect except you got no sound.

    I also google the net and search on this forum but I think my situation is kinda different and other suggestions won't work for me. Now this is my last option to ask for help.

    Thank you guys. I like to try this free game and this no-crosshair arise my curiosity. I am a bit new to linux.

    Checking the net and I change few things in my cqblancher but then its like nothing new happened. It has same no sound. Here is my modified cqblauncher

    in the cqblauncher: line4, I tried with double quote and no double quote, the program runs the same. CQB still dont have sound. I also try to change also to pulse yet no luck.

    I saw this from the terminal. Maybe this could be a clue.

    I had checked the file et-sdl-sound, the file is really there and the path is right.

    Things I did:
    -->I checked for the mispelled command(the cqblauncher script and the original script) but its the difference there was the path to my file.

    -->I look for libSDL.so in the /usr/lib folder, it was there but it was a shortcut symbol. I cant understand the file upon opening it in the gedit.

    -->I had downloaded new SDL from http://www.libsdl.org/. Now I get more confused because some forums says to change the EXPORT path to point to the new SDL. Just like this forums says http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=362231&page=17

    I am trying to cross reference things from several forums but the problem was, those forums are too old. I am thinking they may be obsolete to apply to my current problem.

    Some forums suggesting me to install libsdl1.2-dev but I got this output on terminal

    -->I also visit http://nullkey.kapsi.fi/et-sdl-sound/ then download and try another et-sdl-sound.so and check if some sound would go. still no sound after launching the cqb


    Now I am thinking if not a wrong spelling, the problem could be, to point the script to the right SDL(the new or the old or some other file). If not could be a conflict to the new and old SDL. It could be a dependency problem. How could I sort this out. I usually start from the cqblauncher then progress

    I had backed up the cqblauncher, et-sdl-sound, et-sdl-sound.so

    One more thing. If I run the et-sdl-sound (not the et-sdl-sound.so) I get to Wolfenstien Enemy Territory all working well even the Omni-bot mods is working fine, with all the sounds. From the mods selection, I also had the cqbtest but when I choose it, I go back to Desktop

    But then I launch the "cqblauncher" script. I can get the CQB work fine but with no sound. I go directly to the CQB menu without the Enemy Territory mod selection.

    So I am thinking that the CQB launcher is not pointing to the right SDL or could be another reason I still dont know.

    Yet I got the feeling that we are so close to unlock this puzzle.
