Hello. My problem is that I cannot get my wireless internet working. After looking on the Ubuntu website and following a few steps, some shown below, I found that my wireless network adapter is asleep. The problem is, the Ubuntu documentation said that enabling a wireless adapter is different for every computer. I was wondering if anyone with an Hewlett Packard G50 knows how to enable the wireless adapter. Below are some details on my problem.
After using the lshw command:
description: Wireless interface
product: AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter
vendor: Atheros Communications Inc.
physical id: 0
bus info: pci@0000:02:00.0
logical name: wlan0
width: 64 bits
capabilities: bus_master cap_list ethernet physical wireless
configuration: broadcast=yes driver=ath5k latency=0 multicast=yes wireless=IEEE 802.11bg
resources: irq:17 memory:d2600000-d260ffff
I think the results of the lshw command are telling me that the computer recognizes the wireless network adapter so that is not the problem.
My driver is an ath5k and it shows up in the lsmod command so I know it is recognized.
After running another command, I forget the name, it showed that my adapter was asleep. I do not know how to turn it on. Thanks.
