Laptop won't boot when running on batteries

hi,

I've got a smll problem, no biggie but still annoying.
I have ubuntu 12.10 installed on my Lenovo ideapad z580.
The installation is clean but whenever I try to boot up the pc while running on batteries I get either a full purple screen or a black screen.
After trying to boot it a few times it usually works.
When I try to boot it with text mode it doesn't show any errors, it just gets stuck when checking for devices.
My specs are intel i7 3d gen 2,9 ghz intel hd 4000 graphics card 6 gb ram and I'm using ubuntu 12.10 64 bit.

Does the battery show up normally in the BIOS when you boot?

Does it boot properly if it is plugged in ?

It did work properly in the short time I used windows 7 and I only encountered the problem while running on batteries, don't remember encountering while the laptop was plugged in

I have the exact same model laptop
and I have the same problem!

I've installed ubuntu 12.10 32bit , when laptop is plugged in I have no issue with it, it works as it should be , but when it is on batteries , ubuntu freezes at purple screen , and sometimes on a black screen ! it's really annoying , most of the times on battery , ubuntu won't boot , I have to hold down power button to force a "hard" power-off ,
but every time I can boot to the other OS one my laptop on batteries without any errors ,

hmmm perhaps it's just a bug.
Think I'm going to add it launchpad
