    Question strange box in upper left corner of screen

    Hi all,

    yesterday I had to install about a gazillion dependencies to be able to compile a large software package. Now I have a gray box in the upper left corner of the screen which obscures part of my menus. I cannot access my applications anymore (I'm using Gnome classic desktop, Ubuntu 12.04 32bit). The box says "Default (local)" and has a green dot next to it. Here a screenshot;

    Any ideas what this is and how I can get rid of it?

    Yours,
    Andi

    Lightbulb Re: strange box in upper left corner of screen

    Found the solution after a lot of try and error. Rivendell, the large software package I mentioned brings in the newest version a monitoring application, rdmonitor. This one was responsible for this box.

    Not an Ubuntu issue after all...
