Thumbs down Lenovo Ideapad U310, Will it Work with Ubuntu?

I am looking for my old everyday lappy replacement, so far i am thinking of buying a Lenovo Ideapad U310 but of course it will be a waste if the lappy won't work with Ubuntu.

If you own the Lenovo Ideapad U310 please respond and report if Ubuntu work OOTB and if there any caveats around, along with workaround if available.

    thank you

Talking Re: Lenovo Ideapad U310, Will it Work with Ubuntu?

    I recently purchased a Lenovo U310 and I've just installed Ubuntu 12.10 64 bit.

It works OOTB except for the trackpad, the gestures to zoom in/out and scroll up/down are not working yet, I came across your post looking for a solution.

If it comes with windows 8, chances are you'll have to disable UEFI and then go to your bios and change the device boot precedence to boot from a USB stick. You should find extensive documentation on how to do it for different windows versions.

If I find how to fix the trackpad I'll update this thread.

thanks Gaston770, i've contacted the store and it doesn't come with any OS which is a good news (i guess?)

I just hope the U310 will work OOTB with Precise, cuz i cant install Quantal, rarin, etc..

also, its a bit weird because 'nobody' here seems to have problem with the trackpad.

Oh yes, I've been drowning in a thimble of water. You just have to go to trackpad options and enable it .
