Ubuntu 12.10 Installation issues - black screen after 'install ubuntu'

Hello everyone,
I currently have issues with installing ubuntu 12.10 on my Asus K95V laptop.
I can boot from the USB, it gives me this menu:

Im getting a black screen when i press Install Ubuntu. On my menu, i can edit the boot commands by pressing 'e', so i did and tried to add ' nomodeset ' at the end of the boot commands, no success though.

Can anyone help me?

P.S I noticed that, when searching, people have a boot menu like this, i never had it, is there a way i can get it? Its alot easier to just select nomodeset when pressing F6.

To get the boot menu with a LiveCd/USB, press 'Esc' when you get the purple screen with two small icons at the bottom, one a keyboard and the other a 'man' access image.

Hi bogan, thank you for your reply.
However i'm not getting a purple menu, I just select my boot device (USB in this case), then i get the menu with the 4 options in the first picture. When i select Install Ubuntu, it just gives a black screen.

EDIT: Fixed by downgrading to 12.04
