    triple-booting mac

    okay, so i'm not exactly sure if i'm even posting in the right spot, but here goes.

    i recently purchased a macbook pro for college, i am graduating this year. i have forever dreamed to own one of these computers (i understand, a bit dramatic). anyhow, i've always told myself that whenever i finally get a mac, i would triple-boot osx, windows, and ubuntu.

    now this question actually has nothing to do with the ubuntu part of the installation, but i assumed that maybe one or two of you guys have tried this, and perhaps have had the same problem.

    to start off, i followed the guide on lifehacker: http://lifehacker.com/5531037/how-to...-camp-required
    whenever i go to install windows 7, it gets about 75% through with the install. then all of a sudden, the installation disc quits (can no longer hear it spinning), the mouse quits working, and the whole installation hangs.

    now i realize this isn't an "ubuntu question", but i figured i could ask for a little friendly advice, find some discussion, perhaps get pointed in the right direction. but i did know that this forum is full of some knowledgeable individuals (;

    thanks in advance for the help.

    Moved to the Apple sub-forum.

    Your link seems to be older now, better to find newer instructions.

    thank you, i knew it needed to be moved somewhere. i don't see how this link can help me any, however.

    one thing is whenever the installation hangs, i'll force the computer to shutdown by holding the power button.. then i'll reboot the computer and have the option to choose osx or windows.. if i select windows, it loads and then shows this message after "booting":
    Code:
    The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation.
    Whenever i restart and select windows again, it shows the same message everytime; the installation does not restart.. even if it did, i'm sure it would hang just like it has been.

    i have officially no idea what to do.

    Funny, I have already the exact same story...Was in my 4th year of university when I decided to get a new Macbook pro...I would like to run Windows 7 + Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as well, but I am not even sure if this is possible because it has a UEFI bootloader instead of a traditional BIOS....

    @OP, do you get any error messages during the Windows 7 install? OS X + Windows 7 should be no problem using the "Boot Camp Assistant" app within OS X

    The Ubuntu part is the tricky one....Subbed regardless.
