Question Ubuntu handling the windows boot.

This might sound a bit stupid but a friend of mine had this idea and I thought: why not ask the Ubuntu forum.

Is it possible to let a Linux kernel run when you boot into Windows (after choosing it in the GRUB loader).
When Windows shuts down the Linux kernel encrypts Windows as it is and when you boot back into windows Linux will decrypt windows. Like hibernating or the Suspend function in Vmware. But he thinks that this could be faster. And when you hibernate to often Windows will get slower and slower until it's rebooted (Don't know if other people have that same problem).

    That was the question.
    I sure hope it's possible
    And thanks in advance.

What is it you'd actually like to do? Recent versions of Windows can use full-disk encryption so that when the system is shut down the drive is not readable.

If you'd just like to have a faster way of stopping and starting the machine you can use suspend-to-RAM, which is called suspend in Linux and sleep in Windows.

Well. We actually wanted the security of Linux.
Also when the Linux kernel is encrypting Windows, Ubuntu can boot to make it easier to switch between Windows and Ubuntu. This is not possible when going to sleep mode.

And b.t.w.: when I put ubuntu in suspend it still drains allot of battery.

No can do. You can't just mix-and-match two operating systems like that.

You, as the thread's OP, need to mark it as "Solved" from the Thread Tools drop down menu in your browser window. You will be redirected and the thread will be marked then. Cheers.
