    Privacy addons for Firefox

In case any one is interested, I seen an article yesterday about how Facebook, Google and Twitter can track you browsing other websites.
I use NoScript and do not even allow twitter to script nor do I have an account but, earlier I seen where 20 attempts from twitter had been blocked by the addon.

Here is the solution: install "facebook disconnect", "google disconnect" and "twitter disconnect" addons to Firefox.

EDIT: When you search for the first one in Firefox addons, the other 2 will be on the same page.

I never use facebook or twitter, but when I use google search I never login to my google account first, and I do not allow my gmail account to stay logged in either.

Does that give me similar added privacy? I don't know.
However, I must certainly look into the google version of those add-ons.

Just to be safe I would add all three as those sites all have "tentacles" reaching out everywhere.
If you used NoScript and see what websites are attached to other websites you would know what I mean.

I never used Twitter but, it blocked that site many times. On any given site all three of the above are possibly connected to that site.

Here is one article about Google:

Here is another link with the addons and some links in the tabs as to why you may need all three:

    https://disconnect.me/tools

There are addons for Chrome that do the same too.

This Collusion addon will show you what sites are tracking you. You would be surprised.

Yep, i have used noscript or js blacklisting for years, it tends to be annoying allowing each script you need at that time, but safer in the end

    Re: Privacy addons for Firefox

Some privacy addons that might be of use to those interested in this topic/thread:
Adblock Edge: customizable malware ad blocking. Also check out Adblock Lite. (***Adblock Plus recently sold out.***)
Beef Taco: opt-out of cookies permanently.
BetterPrivacy: gets rid of LSO "super" cookies.
    Click&Clean 4.0
Close'n forget: helps stamp out cookies
FlashBlock: lets me choose what flash animations I want to see.
    Force-TLS
HTTPS-Everywhere: by the EFF, provides encryption to the communications with a major number of websites.
NoScript: allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice.
    PhZilla
Priv3 prevents you from being tracked by social networks: priv3.icsi.berkeley.edu
Element Hiding Helper for Adblock Plus: fights text ads
Flash Video Replacer: Really great work lovinglinux! Thanks a ton for this. Now I'm one step closer to freedom!
Youtube (SSL) searchbar: utilizes SSL to protect searches between You and YouTube.

As far as Google's concerned, if you're a tin hat wearer, don't use it. Instead check out the myriad of alternatives:
    YaCy
    Startpage HTTPS
    DuckDuckGo SSL
    Ixquick
If you absolutely feel like you have to use Google, at least make sure you're using SSL: Mozilla addons has a Google SSL search bar.

As far as Facebook is concerned, if you're tin hat wearer, don't use it. Instead check out the alternatives:
    Diaspora
    Crabgrass
    Friendica

Which Ubuntu version are you on? My Raring installation does the exact same. It never shows anything in Collusion.
But, Quantal, Precise and Lucid do show lots of activity in Collusion. It shows that google does not connect to everything like it used to.

I doubt it. Install Collusion and see. If Collusion shows google attaching itself to every site you visit, then that would confirm no.
I only use Firefox, so I am not sure if chromium has Collusion as an addon.
