A Possible Change To The Code Of Conduct.

    Hello,

Having watched how the forums at times appear to be difficult for some users to grasp in terms of ideal procedure, I thought that a minor change to the Code of Conduct could alleviate some of the problem.

I thought that Item 26 could be added with wording similar to - "And finally to assist your introduction to the Forums to be as stress free as possible, we invite you to read the stickies located beneath the "Forum Feedback and Help" section at your convenience. Reading these Stickies should help you assimilate into the Community with as little difficulty as possible."

Perhaps such a change would be too difficult to be considered worthwhile.

I trust you won't mind me offering this suggestion.

    Cheers -

You are making the assumption people read the CoC.

Judging by half of the threads we get, I seriously doubt they know what it is let alone read it.

Once people have registered and confirmed their e-mail, they get a welcome PM, judging by the rise in people having looked at my profile over the last 2months (I was the contact point) then people at least give some cursory reading to that message.

In it they are pointed to

    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1006656

They are also told it's an automatic message and not to reply - the not reading of stickies or the CoC apparently starts then given the amount of replies I get ...

and no - we don't mind you suggesting it

I either forgot or didn't realize that - That particular Sticky at least handles part of the problem - It's just that I feel that the other Stickies are not readily observed -

Without making them this big there's not much we could do - we could make them big and red, but I'm not convinced that would help much

People will still ask, or not see them, such is life and it would be a real pain for the rest of us

lol - probably quite so - but at least it would possibly act as a pointer to the Forum Feedback And Help - I don't think the problem is easily solved - As it is now users practically have to stumble across the Stickies -
