The mouse nightmare - Featuring a standared mouse and the RAT 5

Ive deleted my original post because it went on about a mouse problem which i later figured was the mouse itself fault. The second part of my post was about the rat 5.
2F4U below has got the Rat 5 it working for me. The First link is what i used.

As far as I know, Ubuntu doesn't use xorg.conf, as mentioned in the link to the tutorial. I've found newer articles which suggest to use a different configuration file:
