Failed Boot after Alsa uninstall and crash

So I decided to change the equilizer program that I had been using to PulseAudio. I opted to uninstall Alsa from my desktop. (10.04LTS) During the removal of all the left over parts from Alsa in the software centre my computer crashed and came to a black screen with a bunch of code. I opted to manual reboot.

But when I restarted I had a message screen that isn't readable on the 32" tv screen and a return arrow as the only option. So I clicked it and it brought me to 4 other options I can't read. Gave me an X or a return arrow.

ctrl + alt +f2 brings me to tty2 and when I input startx I get black screen with arrow....

    Now what?

    Thanks
