    LOL

Yes, reloaded rtl8723ae and it works as expected. (honestly I have reloaded and unloaded it last night many times too but it didnt work........... plus lots of restarting / shutdown laptop........sigh)

The good news is I have tested the 12/12/19 compat-drivers out, the conclusion is it is working

    thanks,

Re: No wireless after 12.10 installation

    Hi Chili,

The wireless connection is working but I noticed the connection is not consistence even the top right corner on the screen shows the wireless is still connected, ie firefox believe there is no connection and page wont load (which does not happen with wired connection).

    The inconsistency happens quite often.......

I will be grateful for any help.

    thanks,
    Bonnie

When the connection seems to drop out, run these terminal commands:
    Code:
    dmesg | tail -n20 > bb2013.txt
    nm-tool >> bb2013.txt
Look in your user directory and find the text file bb2013.txt and post it here. Hopefully, we will see some clues as to what's wrong.

May I see with the ethernet disconnected:
    Code:
    rfkill list all
    nm-tool
So far, we see nothing obviously wrong.

Re: No wireless after 12.10 installation

My favorite kind of problem: everything looks just perfect, except it doesn't work! I wonder if there is any clue here:
    Code:
    dmesg | grep -i rtl
    cat /var/log/syslog | grep -i -e rtl -e etwork | tail -n20
Please run all tests with the ethernet detached.

Re: No wireless after 12.10 installation

    Hey Chili,
I have been having the same consistency problems. The wireless will work for an hour, sometimes all day, but then it will just drop out for 3-4 minutes and then pop back again.I thought it was just the wireless at my parents place but it has followed me home. Should I do what you suggest in post #73?

One other thing. When the wireless is down I can get it to start up sometimes by activating transmission. It doesn't work every time, and it will still go down if transmission is already active.
