    ubuntu 12.04.02 kernel?

I read that the plan was to have kernel 3.5+ in Ubuntu 12.04.2 is that still the plan?

The LTS kernel throughout its lifetime gets regular kernel patches from upstream kernel on a need to use basis after thorough testing so that makes kernel update unnecessary. In case you want a new kernel, you can get unpatched and not tested new kernel from mainline kernel ppa.

I know that, i am talking about the 12.04.2 point release where there was plans for a newer kernel.

I am looking to see if anyone knows if it is still happening.

LTS never gets kernel upgrades as that has been their policy for LTS, where did you read they are going for new kernel?

It was one of the discussed features for Ubuntu 12.04 to get newer kernels, i can't remember the exact link.

This is not an officially supported kernel for Ubuntu-12.04 LTS.
Are there any reasons to use 3.5 kernel in the LTS version instead of the officially supported one? Are you going to upgrade some hardware which is supported only from 3.5 kernel?

The hardware enablement initiative seems to be going to make this official.

For those unaware, we intend to provide the 12.10 kernel and X stack for enablement purposes in 12.04

    The word is enablement

"The 3.2 kernel released with 12.04 will continue to be maintained for the life time (5 years) of precise."
What's the difference then between this policy and Ubuntu-10.04 backporting newer kernel versions?
