I didn't craft that question very well -- been coding all day, and my brain was fried. LoL!

Pango doesn't come from the edgers PPA. However...

When I went to upgrade the edgers PPA to saucy, in Synaptic, pango (as you said) wanted to strip my install to the bare metal, and it freaked me out.

I went ahead and upgraded edgers manually, and let the sleeping pango dogs lay...

In a zeitnot: any easy way to kill (as terminal as possible) on-screen keyboard on GDM login screen apart from click on keyboard button?

*Thought* about doing it today, but edgers/saucy wants to hold-back pango 1.0 upgrades et al.

Flags are flying, and red-lights flashing, in my mind, you know?!?!?

Don't *feel* like playing Russian Roulette yet today (maybe later). Prudence is keeping me from pulling_the_trigger...
I am using the nvidia-319 package from xorg-edgers.
However, I think pango1.0 issues are not due to edgers.
    Instead, Gnome3 and Gnome Testing PPA's have different pango1.0 (1.34.1) than saucy's pango1.0 (1.32.5-5).
They depend of different libharfbuzz and that can create problems.

It seems after all it is a good idea to get rid of Gnome3 PPA (raring) and Gnome3 Staging PPA (raring) and thus Gnome Testing PPA too.

I'm not sure if ppa-purge works for Ricotz and Gnome3, at least clean ppa-purge...
Question: Is Gnome3 PPAs still needed for Ricotz's PPAs (E,S,T)?
I'ma asking because I can not derive a clean way of purging Ricotz's PPAs...
If there is a way please tell me...

I've never been able to cleanly ppa-purge the ricotz PPA. I've had good luck with the gnome3-team PPAs though. The package versioning just gets to be a bit too weird in ricotz for ppa-purge to handle, it seems.

Due to mixed dependencies even purging Gnome3 Staging PPA alone is a bit difficult now.
Saucy is using newer harfbuzz than those PPA's, yet the PPA's has got newer pango (depending on older harfbuzz).
    So, it is difficult.
I did it manually source by source.

I managed to revert all except ricotz/testing...
For ricotz/experimental a little bit of juggling was needed around totem and gstreamer but I've managed that...
So, I'm left with only ricotz/testing and even attempts to do that by hand from Synaptic are unsuccesfull since I get a bare-metal offers...
    I've tried with
    Code:
    sudo aptitude reinstall '?version(ricotz)'/saucy -s
but even that gave me a list for removal bigger than a list of installed files I suppose...
I've even tried with making a list by hand:
    Code:
    dpkg -l |grep ricotz |grep ii
... No way... But I'm getting closer...

Gnome Testing PPA is also quite difficult to disable because a number of sources (like gnome-shell) depends on other package versions in the same PPA,
So, downgrading one of them will usually leave broken dependencies left.
You need to manually install (with dpkg) in console or terminal several packages at the same time.
If you have already disabled all other PPA, why not download all sources there is in the Testing PPA and then install them from your HDD or SDD with dpkg, all at the same time.
If dpkg cannot configure them all, just repeat the same installing command and perhaps use --auto-reconfigure.

Sometimes it might be better to wait for the needed rebuilds which in case of webkitgtk takes quite some time.
