Plextor PX-716UF disc drive won't mount

I found some guides and whatnot here and there that would mount this by playing an audio disc or something, but I want to be able to boot up with this thing.

My computer sees it there in the bootup, but it just won't boot from it, also when Ubuntu loads up it isn't mounted.

Is this a USB plugin? You say that you cannot boot from it. To boot from an external USB your computer must be set in BIOS to do this.

Windows Server 2008

But I did also try the Ubuntu live cd

I can't find any driver support, seems to be only mac and window support for this product

One last idea. Open up your "Disk Utility" program and see if it will mount it. Other than that, sorry, but I am out of ideas.

Wouldn't that only temporarily mount it and not be mounted when I reset to run from the boot?

Ok I used that program, what does this tell you?

Driver or not, it looks ready to use.
