    Skype heat

Hey, I have started noticing some heat increments with skype launched. Found out that skype is using over 80% cpu and makes some heat. Anyone here found an work-around how to lower CPU consumption with skype ?

    Running 12.10 with 3.6.8 and skype 4.1.

    Re: Skype heat

I remember Skyping with my girlfriend over the summer and I think Skype would make my computer heat up as well.

I don't know what to say other then Skype might just be a processor heavy task.

Also, what kind of CPU do you have? Have you cleaned the dust out of your computer lately?

There is, in addition to that, undervolting which dropped my temps by quite a bit.

I have z570 laptop, with i5 processor. And I also dual-boot with windows 7 where I run skype also but this just works so much better here, I don't even notice any serious heat changes ...

Well I got back to this problem, looks like the heat is only generatet when I am using webcam to have a call Using cpulimit set to 15 for skype proces without any calls seems quite stable
