Using Ubuntu, my audio is often played through my tower too, normally if I turn the volume low. Is there any way to stop this?
I have an dell optiplex.

Thanks a lot. I found the solution through your second link .
To anyone interested, to solve this problem of audio-from-pc, which appears to be common in linux, try here: http://www.upubuntu.com/2011/06/how-...on-ubuntu.html (install alsamixer and put the "pcm" volume at zero or as low as you want).
