    Mobile Broadband Issue

    Ubuntu 12.04 LTS i383 Ubuntu-desktop installed
    ISP EE(was Orange.co.uk)
    Dongle Option Icon 225 USB

I would like to extract programmatically the following information

1 as shown in the network-manager applet menu Mobile Broadband for example

    hso0 EE UMTS

    2 The radio signal strength

What program language is best for this?

The idea is to log into a table

date,time,ip-address,conntion(UMTS or HSDPA ) min wireless strength max strength

p.s. and as a bonus the amount of traffic
