Boot repair found here
Yann wanted your pastebin link that running the BootInfo report gives you. So we can confirm your final working configuration.
You posted the link to the French version of Boot-Repair.

Please use Thread Tools above first post to change to [Solved] when/if answered completely.
Please run Boot-Repair --> Create BootInfo, and tell us the URL that will appear (something like paste.ubuntu.com/1234567 )
(ça aurait été plus facile de demander de l'aide sur le forum ubuntu-fr )
Thanks for the info guys. I will use it to insatll Xubuntu on my son's new Toshiba laptop. I just want to go on record that Windows 8 is probably the most evil one yet. UEFI/Secure Boot seems merely like a way to make opensource people's lives more difficult.

I just bought a laptop for my mother-in-law and it came with Windows 8. I tried to get to the Bios to change the boot sequence to CD-ROM, but all I saw was the option for turning on/off secure Boot. There was no option for booting from CD-ROM. Will I be able to boot from CD-ROM if I turn the secure boot off then restart the computer? My intention is to remove Windows 8 completely and install Linux on this computer, if I can boot from Ubuntu Live disk.
