    Question Ubuntu vs Linux Mint

    Hello,

What is the difference between the most recent versions of Ubuntu and Linux Mint? Which one is better to use?

    Thank you

i prefer the ubuntu update manager, you can add the mint repo if you want to anyway if you want one of there packages for example the mint-meta-codecs
i like xubuntu, i do recommend mint for someone coming from windows, since the panel layout is similar by default, if i do it for them i use xubuntu

    Re: Ubuntu vs Linux Mint

The difference is basically the default desktop environment,3rd party software like flash installed by default, and a few mint additions like the mint menu and update manager. otherwise they are basically the same. i kinda think mint is prettier by default but that's just me.

I never really liked the design style of Mint. I also like Unity, so maybe I am just weird.

    Re: Ubuntu vs Linux Mint

I like a topic about a competing distro gets buried in recurring

Anyway, this makes me curious to try Mint and see what all the hype is about. If it's good I'll stay and if not then I will stick with Ubuntu and Windows 7 (or Windows 8 with the metro theme turned off.)
