I did a "Direct Wire Transfer" with paypal for an online purchase last week, and it still hasn't shown up on my bank's online system. How long does it normally take for it to show up as a charge?

You should contact PayPal to get an accurate answer, but I'm "pretty sure" that the charge would appear in your PayPal account itself (not in your bank account).
The charge shows in both your Paypal account and your bank account. Chech the "payment" option in your PayPal account. Then click "details" for the payment in question. It should say pending or completed. If your payment was withdrawn from your bank account via PayPal for the transaction, it HAS to show on your bank account as a payment made via PayPal. That's how it's always been in my experience. And it's never taken more than three days to show up as a charge on my bank account (not counting weekends, of course).

Paypal will wait until shipment of the ordered goods has been verified by the vendor before payment will be released.

I'd suggest checking your PayPal account first. I'm wondering if you had credit available which was used without going anywhere near your bank or card.

My mistake, I misread the OP who stated that a 'Direct-Wire Transfer' was made. That and an 'instant transfer' would both go through with only the bank transfer delays.
