I have a Canon of the 3100 series; and I use the Canon drivers; is that what you do?
they are downloadable from here
http://support-asia.canon-asia.com/c...100393702.html
and I have marked the debian package (as ubuntu is derived from debian);
It comes down as MG3100 series IJ Printer Driver Ver. 3.60 for Linux (debian Packagearchive)
there are 32bit and 64bit packages; and an install.sh script; that when activated, looks to see what is right for you ..
.....this ensures I get excellent colour printing .........
......if you would like more details on installing, pleased to help
Thank you pdc.
I was relying on Ubuntu 12.10 drivers.
I did as you directed, and loaded the Canon Drivers.
Great!!!! Colour now working.
Thank you very much.
that's great; you managed the install very well; enjoy !
(Canon also supply a scanning programme called ScanGearMP that you can download from their sites.............it works well......... when installed, you need to start it from a terminal)
but you can setup a "launcher"scangearmp
