I'm creating my own network in VirtualBox, but when I go to the settings for my DHCP machine and add my 12.10 Server 32bit or 64bit ISO. I get this error message...

Failed to open the CD/DVD image /Documents/ubuntu-12.10-server-i386.iso.
Could not get the storage format of the medium '/Documents/ubuntu-12.10-server-i386.iso' (VERR_NOT_SUPPORTED).

My error to run VB is :

Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing

'/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup'

as root. If it is available in your distribution, you should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary.

I have tried to run commands
sudo apt-get install dkms
but there are no /etc/init.d/vboxdrv and /dev/vboxdrv in my directory.

I also tried to update and autoremove, then reinstall VB. It still doesn't work.

Anyone has the same problem?

Not sure, but have you checked the integrity of the ISOs?

Have you checked your usergroup? Command to check that-

groups

You should see 'vboxusers' in the output. If not, do-

sudo adduser <your user ID> vboxusers

Then retry.

I'm at about the same stage as Allen. I did check the md5sum of the .iso I used to install Ubuntu, which was fine. I don't know what else to do.
