Talking Way to install Java that actually works!

As I've said, I'm a Linux n00b, and barely know how to use a terminal or command line window to do ANYTHING.

So I bought this old screen for my desktop and noticed a few stuck pixels. I came across a Java app to possibly fix this problem, but couldn't figure out for the life of me how to install Java on my desktop!

After searching for a few solutions, I finally came across a solution that I understood and actually was able to do.

It takes being a root user, and by resetting the root password, I was able to complete these commands easily.

The page that aided me is listed below! Be sure to follow all instructions listed that apply to you, and try not to get lost in the terminal like I almost did.

    Hope this helps someone!

That method is detailed here in the community documentation https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Java

It also doesn't require unlocking the root account, in fact it's not recomended at all that you do that. See this documentation for more on that https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo
