IMHO, there is only one type if keyboard worth using, and that is keyboards based on the IBM buckling spring, like the Model M. These days only Unicomp makes them, I think.
I have previously used the basic Lexmark era IBM Branded Model M:

And currently a Unicomp model:
A keyboard with mechanical switches (usually clicky, but not always) is definitely a must for me, but I have tried keyboards with other (Cherry MX, Alps, etc.) switches out there, and while some may be fine for gaming, nothing beats a true buckling spring Model M for typing.
Once you get used to one, there is no going back.
