    Angry Stuck Wallpaper/Splash Screen 12.04 to 12.10

    Hello,

I need help as I seem to have a failed ubuntu upgrade from 12.04 to 12.10 on my laptop. I cannot access the GUI menu properly i.e. the short cut panel on the left and the top corner. Also pressing the Windows start menu keyboard button doesn't bring up the GUI run prompt.

Thank you for sharing the link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1743535, as it seems this is a known problem, however I haven't gone through the steps for it.

I want to regain access & control of my separate HDD partion as well as my OS. Can anyone suggest the ways to do this.

Do I need to reinstall or first reboot using an Ubuntu image? 12.04 or 12.10? Or can this problem be solved without losing my data?

    Thanks,
    Clovis

    Hi,

Can someone please help me out here? I can't understand all the lingo. I'm basically just getting a wallpaper and not getting the normal icons and GUI.

    I'm really stuck.
