    I need a CHEAP scanner

I want a CHEAP (meaning new but very affordable and will definitely work on my Ubuntu system that is running pre-12.x)

I'm guessing I can get one for $40 or less, maybe even more affordable than that.

Usage for scanner: To scan in black and white photos of drawings from a friend (an in-mate) to put on e-bay to sell and then send him the proceeds).

Thanks so much Ubuntu community in advance!

Have you thought of simply using a digital camera (maybe one on your smart phone?) to take a picture of the drawings?

Great idea, but I think a scanner will make a little better image as it is art

    I have this scanner:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Epson-Perf...item337d7218ea

If you follow the easy steps here it works flawlessly and gives great results
It can also scan photographic negatives and slides.
    Not bad for £15

If the link did not work, here is the name of the scanner:
    EPSON Perfection 1670 PHOTO

If you go to the Epson.com site don't be put off by the lack of Linux drivers, all you have to do is follow the advice in my first post.
Try Craigslist and your local eBay.
I have had this scanner for about eight years and it still works fine. Just make sure that the glass has not been scratched by staples or whatever.
