Just installed 12.10: Firefox does not connect to the internet!

I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 today.
Firefox cannot connect to the internet. My Ubuntu connection is connected via WiFi.
I also have a Windows system which is connected via Ethernet. This machine has no problems with internet.

Update packages also failed to download. As well as trying to install Chromium from the software center.

So apparently I do have internet available but not on my Ubuntu/WiFi system. I had no such problems with Ubuntu 12.04.

What can I do to fix my problem?

Problem solved!

I disconnected the WiFi USB dongle, then booted Ubuntu and finally reconnected the dongle.
