    Help finding router password.

When setting up wireless I'm being asked for a password.
I do not know what it is.
The user name and password on the router do not work.
The router is a Netgear N150.

    Any help appreciated.

    Re: Help finding router password.

I'm not familiar with Netgear routers, but both my original Linksys and my current Motorola 3347 have "security" tabs where you select the type of login security you want, and enter a password of your choice. This is completely different from the user name and password that let you get into the router setup dialogs. I would expect Netgear to have something quite similar.

If they do, the first thing you'll encounter at the security tab is the choice of what kind of security to use. The one labeled "PSA-PSK" is the most secure and should be used. The "WEP" option is easy to break into, and should be avoided unless you want to make your wireless connection available to the general public.

Once you've selected the type, you need to specify a password or passphrase. This will be the password that you enter when attempting to connect to the router, and should be as strong as you would use to protect your banking information or charge card accounts. However it should also be easy for you to remember!

When you've done these two things and saved the results, you should have no problem completing connection. Hope this helps!

Hi, most netgear routers have a reset button or hole that you
can stick a paperclip or whatever into for 20 seconds to reset the
router to factory default settings. Here is a link for common netgear
    factory default passwords.
