No menu bar in Audacity in 12.10 beta 2

I was trying to use Audacity in beta 2 but it is unusable because there is no menu bar. I've looked at all of the options I can find, but none of them seem to have anything to do with the menu bar. The tool bars provide a number of the tools that I usually use, but I can't find any equivalents for the File menu items, so opening files is difficult and saving is impossible. Can someone tell me how to get the menu bar to be visible, or is this a bug?

I had this problem too, while briefly previewing kubuntu 12.10. One way to use audacity is by using the plasma widget called "Window Menubar" after adding it to your panel.

Currently I use the LXDE desktop in Lubuntu 12.10, and I don't have the audacity menu problem there, so the problem might only exist in the KDE desktop.

Thanks. That does make it usable, but cumbersome, especially as I prefer to have focus follows mouse so I can't have any windows between audacity and the panel. I hope they fix this before release as I'd like to be able to continue using audacity but don't want to do it this way.

Thanks for the link. I don't know why appmenu-gtk had been installed, but removing it solved the problem.
