Firefox works on Unity but not on Gnome Shell or Gnome Classic

I have this problem, Unity no longer works on this PC, every previous version of Ubuntu/Unity 3D would run fine but 12.10 freezes about after 2 or 3 minutes of use so I have to use either Gnome-Shell or Gnome-Classic no effects but the strange thing is Firefox only opens on Unity, now why this happens? is Ubuntu's Firefox geared to work only on Unity now? seriously I am beginning to think after many years of using Ubuntu I have to give up and find an alternative, I don't like the way Ubuntu is going!

You could try to disable/enable the global menu bar integration extension in firefox to see if it can solve the problem.

could be the global menu is the problem! I did remove global menu as I always do, never liked it! Firefox initially did work but I don't remember trying Firefox after, I think it stopped working after the last update and also no other application have the same problem including Thunderbird why would it affect Firefox only?
