    Question Best Cinnamon distro

I am looking to try out a Cinnamon based distro. I have no idea about what Cinnamon feels like, so I want to give it a quick little test.

    QUESTION 1:
Which is the best distribution that is based on Cinnamon?

    Cinnarch: http://www.cinnarch.com/
    Linux Mint Cinnamon: http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2031
    Other: Please indicate the name

    QUESTION 2:
I have typically found Linux Mint to be quite heavy. by comparison, from my 2 attempts at installing Arch Linux (the hardcore install from scratch), with Gnome 3, I found it to be VERY fast.

Cinnarch has a huge benefit - rolling release. I quite like this, but I don't want breakages 24/7. With that in mind: Is there a reason why Cinnarch would NOT be recommended vs Linux Mint Cinnamon?

Presumably you want to test with a live cd ? so why not use a re-writable disc and try both

Other options could include adding the ppa to your ubuntu 12.04 install and having Cinnamon as selected from the Unity greeter or roll your own by doing a command line Ubuntu install then adding the Cinnamon ppa.

CInnarch is still in "alpha". I downloaded Cinnarch and tried to install it, but couldn't even get TTY. So, if the choice is between Cinnarch and Maya (LInux Mint) then the choice is going to be Maya. However. mileage may vary. If you like rolling releases, Mint users have successfully installed Cinnamon on LMDE. At this point, that too is probably a better bet than Cinnarch.

    Kororaa! (Fedora based).

I don't actually like Cinnamon enough to test thoroughly but everything else about kororaa has been flawless so far.

But since it was built by the Mint team (as far as I remember) that would probably be the first (and easiest) place to try it out.

You could also try the LMDE version. There is and ISO with mate/cinnamon on it.

I was slightly mistaken, I though it was installed and available by default but not the case.
It is available in the repos though.

Just follow PLEASE READ BEFORE UPGRADING
If it does break Downgrading Packages
I follow those two and Arch runs rather well.

I've been using PeppermintOS as of late. Very nice distro with the Cinnamon desktop. I tried Cinnarch. It's not bad...just slightly buggy at times.

Mint was great, but it was very laggy on my laptop. I probably just need to use the 32bit edition...but this works fine (Peppermint) with 64 bit.

Though, Kororaa...I may need to try that spin...if I can get BCM4313 drivers working with it...may need to try it...I always liked Fedora for some reason.

Install cinnamon on ubuntu and try it out.

Linux is modular. Pair the best distro with the best desktop environment.
