Impressions after being away for two years

    Hello,

I have decided to come back and try Ubuntu again after going to Mint for a few years. I have to say that this new Unity interface is hard work. I have spent the last half an hour trying to get my bookmarks into firefox and figure where the devil the menu bar is and how do you a file import.

This is not the easiest OS I have tired.

I will persist but so far Mint looks light years ahead in the useability stakes.

    Early days

    Regards

    Paul

    open file with firefox?

I mean right click on file in nautilus and open with Firefox. if firefox is default browser it will load it automaticly when you double clik the HTML file.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.

By default the menu items do not show on the top bar. Just hover your mouse over it and they'll appear like magic!

Or hit the alt key and start typing the menu item you want, like one of your bookmarks for example

Have you tried file>Open file? Or Ctrl+o for the same thing?

I expect that I would need some time to get used to KDE desktop based Linux distribution if I was to try one after several years of using Ubuntu.

Variety and fragmentation are what make Linux what it is. And it is all a question of personal taste and preference.
