Question Original Lemur screen very dim after new power supply ubuntu 12.10

My old lemur is getting old, but with a solid state drive, super thin, and fast ram, its like the Darth Vader of Ultrabooks. Cue "I am your father"

But after my beta testing in 12.10 and a new power supply, my screen went blank? No background lighting, but if I look very closely I can still see that it is display my application windows. I hooked up the HDMI and type up this post.

Any help on screen blankness? What troubles me the most is my bios and startup is blank too!

As you said it was black when you are in BIOS makes me think either the inverter for the backlight or the backlight itself is dead/unplugged.

Is the inverter or back light worth fixing? Are the parts availible?

All of those parts are available, and we can fix it. Usually, inverters an backlights are a lot cheaper than the whole LCD, and the whole repair is uasually between $200-$300, including labor and shipping.
