    12.10 unusable on macbook?

    Hey everyone i need your help.

    Soo :

    Macbook 7,1
    320 GB hard drive repartitioned to 160gb with disk utility
    Boot in Ubuntu LIve CD
    Install Ubuntu Alongside MAC OSX [Selected]
    Installation successfull

    reboot
    Get grub
    select ubuntu
    Ubuntu login loads
    Enter correct password
    Hangs on on orangy swirl background forever.


    What to do?

    Can you get to a virtual console by pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1 (sorry, don't know if a Mac keyboard has the Alt key, but there should something similar). If you can get to a console, try to login with your usual credential and see if you can get some information from the log files.

    Change those two setting to see what's going on at boot:

    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""

    # Uncomment to disable graphical terminal (grub-pc only)
    GRUB_TERMINAL=console

    Thanks cyberMike yoir trick worked perfectly! it seems that there was an error with the cd i burned. I reburned a cd and redid those steps and everything works perfectly now!

    Also after trying multiple versions i gotta say the LTS version is a lot more stable on a macbook 7,1
