Right side of display in both Ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04 cut off slightly

Okay, well I installed Ubuntu 10.04 on one computer, the right side is slightly cut off, like the applications logo is 3/4 on the page. It's kind of annoying. Then Ubuntu 12.04 is the same way, except I can't see the white dots to open up my current windows. My aspect ratio is 16:10 and part of my resolution is 1050

Perhaps it's the monitor. You could try and adjust the displayed screen a bit: shift it to the right, or left, or make it smaller or larger horizontally or vertically. My monitor has an auto adjust.

i have a spare 17" monitor which i use when setting up ubuntu on a client or friends computer, and it always cuts off a bit of the right side after the initial boot....

like Topsiho stated above....auto-adjust button on the monitor fixes it.
