I've been using Gnome Classic, but I'd like to try out Gnome3. The only problem is I can't seem to find a way to customize the top panel or add other panels like I can in Classic. Is there a way to do this?

don't worry about Ubuntu version that you have .
Dont miss anything even it is small. one small pin is enough to bring down a man.
Thanks raja. I was wondering how to do this too.
Those instructions are for Classic. I'm looking for how to customize GNOME 3. I've tried the Alt-Super-Click method, like in Classic, but it doesn't work.
install gnome tweak tool from ubuntu software centre. you can also customize the gnome shell by adding extensions to it by visiting https://extensions.gnome.org/. you an slide the option like on or off for installing the extensions.
you can see the extensions as well as additional panel in the image of my desktop

Your desktop is pretty much exactly what I'm wanting to do. What extensions did you use?
Do you know of one that's like the Application Menu in Classic?
Hi I'm hereby attaching the gnome tweak tool window for you to see the extensions which I'm currently using.
For application menu you can either use 'fripeery application menu' extension or 'application menu' extension. post your desktop screen as an attachment for visual
