    task bar launcher

I am running Ubuntu 12.4 Whenever I open a window out of the task bar, the window will always go to the upper left corner and part of the window text in hidden under the task bar. Can the windows be made to launch to a different screen location?

Window placement is handled by Compiz. Open Compiz Config Settings Manager (not installed in Ubuntu by default, but I believe you have already installed it). Under "Window Management", there's a feature "Place Windows" that you need to enable. I recommend the Smart placement mode, but you can experiment with others to see what you like.
    Jane, stop this crazy thing!
