Ubuntu for rotating tablets

I am currently using Ubuntu 11.10 on a thinkpad x61 with the rotating touchscreen tablet. It took a LOT of work to get the screen to auto rotate. (MANY THANKS to everyone here! I could not have done it without Ubuntu Forums!)

I am planning to get a new laptop soon - again with a rotating touchscreen. I created a bootable USB with 12.04 so I could try it out and see if the screen rotate issue had been resolved. Sadly, no. I have searched around the forum, and the googles, so now I'm asking:

Are there packages already created by people to add autorotate and possibly other tablet related conveniences (like having the onscreen keyboard pop out when there is a cursor in a text box)???

Installing it now. I used magic rotation last time, but for some reason I had to fight a lot to get it to work. I don't think it had it's own installer before. I remember spending a lot of time in terminal and debugging and such.

It looks like it may be much easier this time around. Thanks!

holy #@!! that was a MILLION times easier than last time! A lot of work has obviously gone into this. Thank you so much! I highly recommend this to anyone who is having a problem like mine! Awesome!
