Geary Mail

Just downloaded updates for Ubuntu 12.04 via Ubuntu update manager which included an update to Geary Mail. After the update was complete Geary Mail disappeared from my system. When I type in Geary Mail in dash it shows 0 results.
What happened and how can I get Geary Mail back ?

Have you checked software center to see if it is still installed ? I have never known a program to be removed due to and update. Updates for the program are provided by the developer/ community so you check there because it is not official software.

Yes, I found it in the software center and it said it is run from terminal. I opened terminal and typed geary and sure enough it opened, however, once open I assumed I could then close the terminal but once I did that it also closed geary. It appears that I have to leave terminal open in order to use geary. Why would this be and is there a work around as I did not have to do this before the download from the ubuntu update manager. This is weird.

What version of Geary did you install?

Also, have you ever compiled Geary from source on your system?

Re-downloaded, re-installed, working fine. Thanks for all your input.
