    Changing dates with Shotwell

    Hello everyone.

I have an issue with some photos and videos.
For some reason the date stored in some photos and videos is wrong.
It could be because I didn't set the time and date on the camera, or because the photos were sent to me that way.

Anyway no matter why it happened... it happened.
Now that I imported them in Shotwell, they are filed in the wrong place.

What would the gurus of Shotwell suggest that I do?
My thoughts are delete them, change their dates, and then re-import.

    Any better and faster ideas?

Also ... is there a way to change/set the dates of a photo, or video from withing shotwell? Does anyone know of a reliable and easy program to do just that, but in bulk? (I don't want to change the dates one by one..)

    Thank you all.
    Cheers.

    Re: Changing dates with Shotwell

Shotwell lets you edit the photo timestamps in bulk. Additionally, if you enable metadata writing in the prefs, it will update the metadata in the photo file itself. (Note that Shotwell cannot write to RAW files or videos.)

The help page provides more info:

    Re: Changing dates with Shotwell

    Ok, I am stuck...

I have a .3gp file from my cell phone.
I imported the file into shotwell.
I chose to copy the file, and fair enough shotwell saved it in the folder 2010..03..22.

This is the correct date. When I right click on the photo and choose properties it says that this is the creation date.
    Perfect!

The problem is that, within shotwell the video is filed in the January 1904 folder. And when I click on the video it says Date : 1 Jan 1904.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

    Thanks

edit : I tried to delete the file, and then re-import. It still sees it like 1904!
