That's not entirely accurate.
A lot of malware is written in some sort of macro language such as a Word document. OpenOffice and LibreOffice support some of those macros.
Anything Java is going to be cross-platform to anything that runs Java.
A lot of languages are supported by both Linux and Windows.
Linux is relatively safe from viruses as long as you follow some basic best practices, but looking at the overall picture of ALL malware and ALL security issues, Linux can be every bit as susceptible to malware as Windows.
Help stamp out MBR partition tables. Use GPT instead!
