Cannot boot Linux from flash drive image

So I'm new to Ubuntu and have pretty limited experience with Linux. (I've used Fedora somewhat.) I mounted the Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit .iso on a flash drive to try it and when I attempt to boot from that image, the computer always hangs up (I've waited more than five minutes) at the point in the screenshot. Like I've said, I haven't used this distro before, so I have no idea what the issue is. Any help would be appreciated.
