There used to be a system (Quotron) used on Wall Street to get stock prices that had a keyboard with letters in alphabetical order.
I think I would've let him choose his own password. Easier for him to remember.
Remember When Double-Dog dare ya's and water balloons were the ultimate weapon?
gave him that option. but after 5 minutes of ummmmmmmmmmmm i gave him the option of me choosing one.
The only dumb question is the one not asked.

See, the genius of Apple is that they fixed the PEBKAC problem by eliminating the keyboard.
Holy cr*p, she did it again. Fresh install of Mint 13 KDE on her old laptop. I'd been testing it for some time: everything except the webcam works (but it is dodgy under XP as well), it's fast, it's stable. No problems at all.
She uses it for one hour:
- progress bar on the desktop (the one that shows up when you do a file copy or transfer) shows zero jobs (so it should disappear)
- but the corresponding icon in the task bar shows two jobs
- clicking on that icon does nothing
- start button / menu no longer responds
- right clicking on desktop does nothing
As we had to leave to catch a plane I had no time to further investigate or fix, so I just went to a tty with ctrl-alt-F1 and shut the machine down.
