Should referrals to "cloud storage" be allowed in signatures?

The current thinking is laid out in the Forum Code of Conduct:
You are allowed to have links to personal sites in your signature and in your profile, and may post them in threads on occasion (just not often, please) as long as the content of the site linked does not include material that violates this code of conduct and if you are not posting any other form of advertising.

No,the legal status of the files etc could not be verified and has implications for UF and it's owner.

Clarification -- did you mean referral links as in something stored elsewhere, or those "sign up to dropbox with this link and I get extra space" type deals? I thought what KiwiNZ was thinking for a moment, but then realized you might have meant something else.

Re: Should referrals to "cloud storage" be allowed in signatures?

I was referring to those links included in signatures of forum participants that point to a cloud storage provider.

These links usually have unique values that identify the existing user of the service. If I click on that particular link and sign up for storage, benefits accrue to the existing user of the service.

The format would look like this:
    < a href="h_t_t_p_s:/_/www.examplecloud.com/referrals/RaND0mStrING?etc=etc">Get free cloud storage</a>

Ubuntu One now has a referral program too, if we disallow all referrals to all online storage providers, we would have to disallow Ubuntu One referrals too.

That's actually why I mentioned it. If referrals are allowed as part of forum policy, then I guess it wouldn't seem fair to allow one but not others.
