    Question What is PlayOnLinux?

I recently downloaded PlayOnLinux from the Ubuntu Software Center. When I saw it I was excited because this would probably give me the ability to play all of my Windows games on Ubuntu! But, once I downloaded it, I was kinda confused about how it works. Please help!

    Re: What is PlayOnLinux?

I've never used PlayOnLinux, but I think it is a front-end for WINE with specific settings for specific programs, mainly games. I doubt it will help you play "all your Windows games", but it should make playing a few of them easier.

When I need to be shown how to use a program, I usually search youtube for demonstration videos. Of course, the first place I look is on the website for the program http://www.playonlinux.com in this case. On the main page there are easy to understand links - one of those is labeled - I'd like to learn how to use PlayOnLinux. That link seems like something you'd want to check out. There is also a "Documentation" link at the top of the page.

Also a good way to search the Ubuntu forums for info:

Thanks! I found everything I needed to know about PlayOnLinux at http://www.playonlinux.com/en/manual.html

All you need is the actual game that you bought to be able to play it, and like you said, it only has certain games that you can run. But, it's still a good program if you want to be able to play some games and run some applications made specifically for Windows on Linux.
