Ubuntu freezes when i close the laptop?

If i'm working on windows 7 and close the laptop, it logs me out, and when i open it, i can log in again, however, if i close the laptop on ubuntu, the screen becomes black and it freezes, why? I have the latest ubuntu version.

Hi, check on the "System Settings" in "lightness and block" if it's on the lock screen, if it is so disable it and see if the problem persists.

I have had the same problem..

Check power settings, see if anything says anything about closing the lid. In KDE it does..
