    12.10 freezes all the time

    Hi everyone,

I am having issues troubleshooting an issue that makes my computer completely freeze. No mouse, keyboard etc... I had multitail watching /var/log/dmesg, /var/log/kern.log and /var/log/syslog. There is nothing apparent that is causing this issue. When I am in windows, it runs without freezing. Ubuntu freezes a number of times each day.

Could someone give me some assistance in isolated the problem?

Please give a complete hardware description.

How does it work in a live boot of X/Lubuntu?

Don't use this space for a list of your hardware. It only creates false hits in the search engines.

If you are getting a full freeze where mouse and keyboard lock up,you can't switch tty and only way to restart is to hold the power button down then there was a bug report about it here

    http://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187

but for some reason the report has vanished from the launchpad servers sometime today.

I have found that running kernel 3.8 and using the nvidia 310 driver seems to solve the freezing issues for me but i am also using ringtail which may have more recent xorg and other packages.

Ps do you have an intel sandy bridge or ivy bridge based chipset?
